In the lush, sun-drenched landscapes of Fårö, Sweden, a filmmaking couple, Chris (Vicky Krieps) and Tony (Tim Roth), embark on a creative retreat. They are there to write in the shadow of the legendary Ingmar Bergman, who lived and worked on the island for decades. The Unfolding Narratives

: Eventually, she begins to outline her new screenplay to Tony. The film then shifts into a "movie-within-the-movie," following Amy (Mia Wasikowska), a filmmaker who reunites with her ex-lover Joseph (Anders Danielsen Lie) at a wedding on Fårö.

The story eventually breaks the fourth wall. In a meta-textual twist, the actors playing Amy and Joseph arrive on the island, and we see Chris’s film being actively produced. This fusion of reality and fiction leaves the viewer questioning the boundaries of memory and art.
