Intense fighting continued toward the south as Croatian units pushed to secure the bridge at Stara Gradiška, cutting off the RSK’s connection to Bosnian Serb-held territory across the Sava River.

In response to the rapid success of Operation Flash on May 2, Milan Martić, the president of the RSK, ordered a rocket attack on the Croatian capital, Zagreb.
