Following the destruction of the Institute's headquarters, Jesse and the remaining survivors, including and Emilia Blackwell , seek refuge at a hidden Rentier Institute (RI) outpost located in the mountains near the mining town of Baxter .
: Jesse travels to the Baxter mining shafts to retrieve these components. During his exploration, he discovers that the miners had previously unearthed the massive body of an ancient beast, which the vampires have been "bleeding dry" to use its ancient blood for their dark schemes.
