Set eight years after the original film, Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) is in self-imposed exile in Eastern Europe, struggling to control the "Spirit of Vengeance".
: Roarke needs Danny, his biological son, to serve as a human vessel for his soul. He empowers a mercenary named Ray Carrigan (Johnny Whitworth) to capture the boy, eventually transforming him into the decaying villain Blackout.
: Johnny is approached by Moreau (Idris Elba), a wine-loving warrior monk from a secret religious sect. Moreau offers Blaze a chance to be free of his curse if he can protect a young boy named Danny (Fergus Riordan) from the devil, known here as Roarke (Ciarán Hinds).
