Set in the near future, the story follows as Detective Ray Venable, who leads a unit dedicated to hunting down dangerous GRS mutants. The central conflict arises when Venable discovers that a series of brutal murders is being committed by his own son, Dylan, whom he and his wife secretly gave away years prior. To track his son, who possesses superhuman speed and senses, Venable injects himself with a experimental genetic serum to "level the playing field".
