Transitioning is the process of aligning one's life, and sometimes body, with their gender identity. This is personal and can include social transition (name, pronouns, clothing) or medical transition (hormones, surgeries).
The community includes trans women (assigned male at birth, identify as women), trans men (assigned female at birth, identify as men), and non-binary individuals (identifying as neither exclusively male nor female).
Transgender (or "trans") is an umbrella term encompassing people whose gender identity, expression, or behavior does not conform to traditional binary expectations of male or female.
