The sophomore season is characterized by a "tighter and darker" narrative compared to the first. It focuses on the intersecting lives of a young entrepreneur, a CIA operative, and members of a Mexican cartel as they vie for power and influence. Los Angeles, 1984.

After losing official CIA funding for his mission in Central America, Teddy must find "off-book" ways to continue his operation, leading him toward a partnership with Franklin.
