In the crime drama Georgetown (2019), Christoph Waltz makes his directorial debut while starring as Ulrich Mott, a charismatic and eccentric social climber who infiltrates the highest ranks of Washington, D.C., society. The film is a fictionalized account of the notorious 2011 murder of 91-year-old socialite Viola Herms Drath by her much younger husband, Albrecht Gero Muth.

The story follows Ulrich Mott's meteoric rise through flattery and elaborate lies. He marries Elsa Brecht (Vanessa Redgrave), a wealthy, well-connected journalist several decades his senior, using her influence to rub shoulders with powerful political figures.
