If you grew up watching 90s anime, you probably remember the bizarre, high-energy gag comedy of Tottemo! Luckyman . This series, produced by Studio Pierrot, kicked off on April 6, 1994, introducing us to a protagonist who redefined what it means to be "lucky".
Yoichi’s life is a constant disaster. He can't even confess his feelings to his crush, Miyo Kireida, without something going wrong—usually involving attracting the unwanted attention of Desuyo Busaiku instead. Just when he thinks his luck can’t get any worse, a stray UFO crashes directly onto him, killing him instantly.
The series premiere, titled (かまきり星人でラッキー!), introduces us to Yoichi Tsuitenai—officially Japan’s unluckiest middle schooler. His name is a pun on "Tsuitenai," which literally means "unlucky".
