Before it was a global phenomenon, "Two Princes" was a scribbled idea on a yellow legal pad. Lead singer Chris Barron wrote the lyrics in 1987 while living in a small room in Princeton, New Jersey. Working as a "peon" in a kitchen at the American Diner, Barron found himself caught between his creative toddler—the voice that wanted to "finger-paint"—and the mental bouncer who tried to shut down "stupid" ideas.
